About Joey:

Joey Dems is a New York City and Miami-based performer, contemporary aerialist, and classically trained actor whose work blends aerial technique, character, and theatrical storytelling.

With a background in acting and directing, Joey approaches performance as more than a sequence of skills. His work is built around mood, music, and visual composition, with an emphasis on creating a clear experience for the audience, whether in a theatrical production, cabaret setting, nightlife venue, private event, or creative collaboration.

Joey began consistently training aerial arts in 2016, drawn to the storytelling possibilities of movement in the air. He has performed throughout New York City and the Tri-State area, including appearances at The Slipper Room NYC, The Red Pavilion, Iron23, and the Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.

In addition to performing, Joey teaches aerial arts and movement-based conditioning, with an emphasis on safe technique, strength, musicality, and helping students develop confidence in the air. He is also a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, NASM-Certified Nutrition Coach, and AFAA-Certified Group Fitness Instructor.

Alongside his creative work, Joey is also a transactional attorney, a background that informs his detail-oriented, reliable, and collaborative approach to performance, teaching, and artistic projects.
